Oweninney Wind Farm

The Renewable Energy Advocacy Hub at Oweninney Wind Farm provides an insight into the production of wind energy, the local peatlands eco-system and the history of power generation in the North Mayo area. Rockbrook were tasked with the supply and installation of interactive exhibits. We also provided audiovisual systems design and installation as well as generating all interactive content.

Project Details

Located in a remote location in the west of Ireland in County Mayo, this colorful exhibition center is on the site of an extensive operational windfarm generating station. The exhibition center focuses on the science behind electricity generation through renewable means. Integral to the commentary is how the landscape we all share sits into this dilemma of energy generation and its effect on climate change. When you enter the exhibit, you are greeted to an interactive projected map of the areas wind patterns and currents.

A large 4m high projection gives an overview of the site operationally from the perspective of above through dramatic drone footage. The next stage describes the construction of the site with interviews from key contributors to the project. The facility also incorporates an educational piece describing the science behind both peat and renewable energy generation with an intriguing digital microscope experience letting you get right down to the microscopic detail of the environment surrounding the centre. Rockbrook team were responsible for the design and installation of all audio visual hardware along with the media and interactive production for all exhibits.
