NATIONAL LIBRARY OF IRELAND | SEAMUS HEANEY EXHIBITION

This project is located in the historically significant old house of parliament, now the Bank Of Ireland Culture and Heritage center. Rockbrook AV were tasked with the design, installation & commissioning of all the audio visual systems and the full electrical installation.

Project Details

The “Listen now again” exhibit celebrates the life and work of Ireland’s Nobel prize winner for literature Seamus Heaney. This immersive exhibit follows his life as a child in Derry through to becoming an internationally renowned poet. Rockbrook worked closely with exhibition designers “Ralph Appelbaum Associates” with respect to the selection of suitable equipment sets for storytelling within the space.

A significant emphasis was placed on the sightlines of equipment and the need to hide AV elements as far as possible. As the entire building structure was a protected structure this presented the greatest challenge. It required the careful selection of speakers and placement of them to ensure that audio spill was managed between adjacent exhibits. Exhibits varied between motion triggered audio playback exhibits to synchronized wall and ceiling projections. The story is told around the following themed exhibit sections, Excavations, Creativity, Conscience and Marvel each delving intimately into the man behind the poems.
