Located in the Boinne Valley in Ireland, this World Heritage site is regarded as one of the most important prehistoric landscapes in the world today, dating back over 5,000 years to Neolithic times. The old visitor center was completely stripped out, and a new state-of-the-art experience now stands in its place. Features of the exhibit include projection-mapped material displays depicting the forest landscape that surrounds the valley and clever reverse projections of the wildlife within. A 64-channel DANTE audio network recreates the audio ambiance of the forest to an extent that makes you feel as if you are there. Various interactive exhibits and video walls tell the story of the landscape and the people who once inhabited it. A recreation of the Newgrange tomb houses an innovative light show that recreates the winter solstice for those not lucky enough to experience it in reality.
This project was delivered in an extremely tight time frame of just under four months from the project start. The main challenges in this project were not of a technical nature but rather the coordination of third-party works and a high level of ceiling services in and around the exhibition space, with the requirement for a resin floor to be installed. The final result is stunning and complements the site at Knowth, which was also renovated by our team a few months earlier at a value of just under 500K.
