Project Details

At the home of Ulster Rugby, the Nevin Spence centre showcases the history of the game in Ulster. The centre is dedicated to former player Nevin Spence who tragically lost his life, along with his father and brother, in a farming accident in September 2012.

The exhibit itself is a showcase of the technology used today in the sport of rugby. Rockbrook worked with the sports technology department of Queens university to realise 2 exciting interactive simulations. In the first Visitors can practice taking a kick for goal in the Kingspan stadium. 2 high speed cameras track the exact flight of the ball to display a simulated VR experience. The second instance uses InfraRed cameras to track a player’s exact movement in a “Tackle” in the “Deceptive Movement” interactive.

A high level 360 degree edge blended projection delivers an atmospheric experience of a typical match day experience. Visitors can test pick their own team on the meet the “Dream Team” interactive and a double height touchscreen explores the various rugby bodies required for each position. Explore the Ulster rugby vault and browse through a series of touch screen timelines. This highly interactive and immersive exhibit which has been designed with education in mind. Rockbrook installed and specified all of the AV hardware systems and electrical infrastructure. A separate green screen facility was also provided.
